Persian Baluchi handmade Carpet - Rug - 115 x 217 cm
Be enchanted by the meaningful art of our Baluchi carpet, handmade by the skilled Baluch nomads in southeastern Iran. These nomads, spread across southeastern Iran, southern Afghanistan and western Pakistan, bring age-old traditions to life. Our carpets, from the spiritual Iranian pilgrimage site of Mashad, are a vibrant reflection of the Baluchi style, with distinctive color patterns in red, brown and deep blue.
Mainly made of wool, this carpet sometimes gets an extra dimension through the use of cotton, goat hair, camel hair and/or silk. Baluchi carpets, often smaller in size, carry a unique character through the use of geometric motifs such as hexagons, squares and triangles.
The artisanal process of making a Baluchi carpet, with four or five dedicated craftsmen working 6 hours a day, shows patience and passion. Depending on the size, the production process can take up to ten months.
